European stocks extended losses on Friday, with the Stoxx 50 falling about 0.5% to its lowest level in more than four months and finishing the week down over 2%. The broader Stoxx 600 also dropped 0.5% to a two-week low, posting a weekly decline of more than 1.5%. Germany, the UK, and France led Friday’s losses, while Spain and Italy managed modest gains.

Sector performance was broadly negative. Industrial goods and services, automobiles and parts, telecommunications, and consumer products each fell by more than 1%. Banking, technology, travel and leisure, and media stocks also weakened. In contrast, energy shares outperformed, rising nearly 3% as Brent crude hit new highs amid intensifying attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Corporate earnings triggered sharp moves in individual stocks. Kering slumped more than 15% after a decline in Gucci sales, while Volvo Cars tumbled nearly 25% following a steep drop in Chinese sales. Safran sank 10% despite reporting higher revenue, whereas L’Oréal advanced more than 5% on stronger‑than‑expected third‑quarter results.
